We are excited to highlight a feature designed to bring more control and accountability to your localization workflow: Exclusive Tasks.
We know that managing large teams can sometimes lead to overlapping work or confusion about who owns a specific translation. Exclusive Tasks solve this by allowing you to lock specific strings to a designated assignee.
Why use Exclusive Tasks?
- Prevent Overlaps: No more “double work.” If a task is exclusive, only the assigned user can touch those strings.
- Improve Accountability: You know exactly who is responsible for the translation, review, or proofreading of a specific batch of content.
- Secure Sensitive Content: Ensure that specialized or sensitive legal/marketing copy is handled only by the expert you’ve chosen.
How it Works
When creating a task, simply toggle on Make editing exclusive:
This also works with existing tasks:
Once enabled:
- Strict Permissions: Only the assigned collaborator for that language (and Admins/Maintainers) can edit the strings. Other users can view them but cannot make changes.
- Visual Indicators: In the Editor, these strings will show the assignee’s avatar. If an unassigned user tries to edit them, they’ll see a tooltip explaining that the string is part of an exclusive task.
- Automatic Unlocking: The strings automatically become available to the wider team once the subtask is completed, the due date passes, or exclusivity is manually turned off.
Getting Started
You can start using this today! Go to Tasks → Create Task and look for the Make editing exclusive switch in the configuration step.
You can also filter your Editor view by “Exclusive strings” to quickly see which content is locked down and which is open for everyone.
We hope this feature helps streamline your project management and gives your translators clear ownership of their work!
