Now Live: More control over Glossary and Placeholders when using Machine Translation

We’ve released an update for those of you using Machine Translation providers with built-in Glossary Term and Placeholder preservation capabilities. You now have greater control over how glossaries and placeholders are handled during translation.

What’s New: Previously, glossary and placeholder handling were handled mainly through Transifex. Now, we’ve introduced specific toggles that let you decide who does the heavy lifting: Transifex or your MT Provider.

You will now see two new options in your MT settings:

  • Preserve Transifex glossary terms: Check this to let Transifex protect your glossary terms. Uncheck it if you prefer to rely on the provider’s built-in glossary tools.
  • Preserve placeholders: Check this to have Transifex protect variables and tags. Uncheck it to let the MT provider interpret and handle placeholders.

This option allows you to tailor your workflows better, since more and more MT services offer customization options to ensure the quality of your translations. Whether you want to rely on the MT service’s options or on Transifex, we’re happy to give you more options.

You can read more about it in our Help Center.
