New: Automated Saving & Origin Tracking for AI and MT in the Editor

We’ve just released an update to the Editor that streamlines how you work with automated translations. Previously, using AI or MT buttons required extra manual steps to ensure the data was correctly stored and categorized.

With this update, we are introducing automatic saving and precise origin marking for every translation generated via the AI and MT buttons.

What’s New

We have integrated the Editor buttons directly with our core database logic to ensure your activity reports and translation history are always accurate.

  • Autosave on Click: When you click the MT or AI button, the generated translation is now instantly saved to the database. No more manual “Save” actions for every string. Translations for Plural strings are provided for all forms before saving.

  • Origin Identification: The system now automatically tags the translation origin as MT or AI based on the tool used. This matches the logic used in bulk tasks, giving you consistent data across your entire project.

  • Intelligent Overwriting: * If a translation already exists, clicking AI/MT will replace it with the new version.

    • Safety First: If the AI/MT generation fails, your original translation remains untouched, and you won’t be charged for AI credits.
  • Smart Tag Protection: The system now respects Smart Tags (locked, notranslate). If these are present, the AI/MT calls are blocked entirely to prevent accidental overwrites and unnecessary costs.

Integrated TQI & TM Logic

To ensure that “Autosave” doesn’t mean “Low Quality,” we’ve added two important safeguards:

  1. TQI Visibility: AI-generated translations now immediately display a TQI (Translation Quality Index) score in the string list.
  2. TM Filtering: Generated translations are not added to your Translation Memory ™ immediately. They are only promoted to the TM once they are reviewed—either manually by a user or automatically via your project’s TQI threshold settings.

What this enables

  • Cleaner Reporting: Easily distinguish between AI, MT, and Human effort in your activity reports. This release will affect the activity reports from the 2nd of February 2026.
  • Faster Workflows: Move through strings quicker with “Click-to-Save” functionality.
  • Total Reliability: With Smart Tag protection and fail-safe original text preservation, you can experiment with AI/MT without fear of losing data.
