We’re excited to introduce source string review, a new way for teams to QA source content in Transifex before translation starts.
Source issues like unclear wording, typos, and missing context often show up later in translations. Fixing them at that point means more back and forth and slower localization. With this feature, Organization Administrators and Project Maintainers can mark source strings as reviewed or unreviewed directly in the Transifex Editor, so source QA has a clear status and is easier to pause, resume, and share across the team.
Here’s how source review can fit into a typical localization workflow. Translators can use the source-status filter to work only on reviewed strings.
What’s new?
You can now review source strings in the Editor, one by one or in bulk.
In the source language, use Review or Unreview on a string, or select multiple strings and apply the same action from the bulk panel. Bulk review is available in the source language only. In a target language, bulk actions still apply to translations.
This works across all project types, including Transifex Live and formats that cannot be edited online. If you cannot change the source text in the Editor, you can still mark the string as reviewed. When an edit is needed, download and re-upload the file, or leave a comment for someone else to update it, then review the string.
Existing and newly added source strings start as unreviewed. Create a new string first, then mark it as reviewed.
To find work quickly:
- In the source language, use Editor activity → Reviewed → Yes / No
- In a target language, use Status → Source status → Reviewed → Yes / No
You can also track progress in the Editor, where source-language stats show reviewed and unreviewed counts, and on the Languages page, where the source language now shows % reviewed.
Why this matters
Better source quality leads to better translations and less rework later in the process. With source string review, teams can:
- Check source content before localization starts
- Track source QA progress in the Editor and on the Languages page
- Split and resume source review without losing status
- Help translators focus on source that has already been approved, using the source-status filter
- Review source even when the file format does not support online edits
