We’re excited to announce a significant update in the way we calculate AI usage. To make it easier to understand and manage your AI usage, we are switching from counting AI characters to counting AI words. This new method offers a more intuitive experience when tracking your AI usage.
What’s Changing?
- AI usage is now calculated in words rather than characters.
- All customers with the AI-Characters addon in their current subscription will be automatically transitioned to the AI-Words addon. There’s no action required on your part.
- Your current AI usage limits will be adjusted by dividing them by 5. On average, 1 word equals 5 characters, making this transition seamless. For example:
- 10K characters → 2K words
- 1M characters → 200K words
Pricing Remains the Same
The pricing structure for AI usage will remain unchanged. You’ll continue to pay the same amount as before, with the only difference being that your usage is now measured in words.
How Does AI Word Counting Work?
- We count words that carry meaning and are translated by the AI. Punctuation marks, spaces, and HTML tags are excluded from your usage. For example:
- if you AI-translate the sentence:
"Good morning! How are you today?"
It will count as 6 words. - HTML code and non-translatable elements like
<div> <b>Good morning!<b> <br/> <i>Let's get started!</i> </div>
will be ignored, so in this example, only 5 words would count toward your AI usage.
- if you AI-translate the sentence:
Your subscription page already reflects these changes. We hope this adjustment makes your experience smoother and more transparent. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance your experience!
