If you’re managing complex content architectures in Contentful, you know that entries rarely exist in a vacuum. A single blog post or landing page entry often pulls assets and heavily nested referenced entries (like author bios, banners, or product cards).
Until now, Transifex’s Contentful integration worked on an “all-or-nothing” approach: when you synced an entry for translation, Transifex automatically bundled every single linked asset and referenced entry along with it.
While this automation is great for full-page translations, it can sometimes feel like overkill—cluttering your translation workflows with assets or references that don’t need updates.
To give you complete control over your localization scope, we’ve introduced two highly requested configuration options: Exclude Assets Linked from Entries and Exclude Referenced Entries.
1. Exclude Assets Linked from Entries
What it does: By default, Transifex syncs an entry alongside any assets fields (title and description of an asset) embedded or linked within it. Enabling this toggle instructs Transifex to only sync the text content of the primary entry, completely ignoring any attached asset fields.
- The Benefit: Cleaner translation buckets, reduced word-count noise, and faster sync times.
2. Exclude Referenced Entries
What it does: Contentful relies heavily on references to build modular pages. Normally, syncing a parent entry means Transifex automatically grabs every child entry linked inside it. Activating this option cuts those ties during the sync, pulling only the specific parent entry you selected.
- The Benefit: Prevents redundant translations, protects your localization budget, and stops team members from accidentally overwriting shared reference strings.
How to Get Started
Both toggles are available right now within your Content Synchronization Options in Transifex.
Simply head over to your integration dashboard, toggle these options on or off depending on your project’s architecture, and hit save. You can change these preferences at any time as your localization strategy evolves.
