I can't fix incorrect Japanese translations.

Mistranslations

No one in Japan uses these words, but they have check marks so I can’t fix them.

This is just one example, there are many more.

There are so many mistranslations and inappropriate translations that it’s impossible to comment on every single one.
To begin with, I don’t understand why these translations even have a checkmark indicating they’ve been reviewed.
This not only lowers the application’s reputation, but also makes me question transifex’s management system.

I’ve done a lot of translations for not only Transifex but also Weblate, Crowdin, KDE, etc., and I think Zotero’s Japanese translations are simply abnormal.

It’s important to emphasize that Transifex has no control over the content maintained by organizations or the review processes implemented for specific projects.

This is not a system review; each administrator or project maintainer is responsible for their review process. Upon a quick examination, it appears that several of the strings you shared have been manually reviewed by a translator or reviewer within the project.

Since Transifex neither edits nor governs the localization processes of projects, I strongly advise you to communicate your observations directly to Zotero’s administrators or project maintainers.

I am also aware that there is a problem with the translation project on the app side, and have already contacted them about it.

I think it would be more effective for Transifex to contact Zotero rather than raising the issue on my own.

It’s hard to believe, but the current situation seems to suggest that they are intentionally adopting incorrect translations with malicious intent.

Since you are already a member of the project in question, the most effective way to address this is directly with the project maintainers. We recommend utilizing the Issues tool within the Transifex Editor. By raising an issue there, you can flag specific strings and communicate your quality concerns directly to the organization’s managers and reviewers.

I understand you have concerns regarding the content and review processes within your current project. As Transifex provides the platform and infrastructure for localization, but we do not manage, review, or take responsibility for the specific content or the quality of translations produced by individual organizations nor we interfere or coordinate such processes.

This direct communication via the Editor is the best way to ensure your feedback reaches the right people.

Since I’ve determined that this issue lies 100% with the Zotero translation project administrators, I’ve decided to wait for a response from Zotero.

So please mark this issue as resolved.

By the way, is “ODON”, the administrator of Zotero Japanese translation, still logged in?
When was the last time you logged in?
I’ve sent him a message, but he hasn’t replied at all.

If you go to the Teams option and then click on Manage collaborators you can search the username, the information in this options includes a Last seen field. This will tell you what was the last time user login into Transifex.

If the user hasn’t replied you might need to wait until he answers to your message or you can send a new one and try to reach him again.

Where is this “Manage Collaborators” thing?

Since you see the user as a coordinator we can say the user is still part of the organization and the project.

If you are not able to see the Manage collaborators option you might not have the right role to access to it.

We can suggest you to send a new message, wait until the user replies to the one that you already sent or you can also add a comment in the strings and tag the user. The user will receive a notification of your comment but, in any case you need to wait for the reply.

The last translation was in December 2025.
I understand that translation and logging in are separate issues, but do you think there’s any point in waiting for someone like this?
If it were a regular translator, there would be no problem, but as an administrator, I highly doubt they are qualified.

We really appreciate your comments and your follow-up on this topic.

Unfortunately, this is not something Transifex can intervene in. Organization access, roles, and activity are entirely managed by the organization’s administrators.

Even if the last translation activity was in December 2025 and you need a response, the only way to proceed is to wait for the organization administrator to respond.

We understand this may be frustrating, but Transifex cannot modify organization ownership, replace administrators, or make decisions about internal team management; this is solely managed by each organization.

I hope you understand this. At this point, there isn’t anything further we can do from our side.
