Set own keyboard shortcuts (mainly for special caracters)

I couldn’t find a way to set custom keyboard shortcuts in the editor for special characters that we’re always using (e.g. « » for french, etc.). It would be great to have this option, as well to modify the already set shortcuts for other features like “confirm the segment and go to the next unconfirmed segments”.

Hello @Alizee_M ,

I’m Antonis from the Transifex Customer Success team. I hope you’re well.

While I’m not a French speaker and I don’t use this particular setup, I’m bilingual and switch between two different layouts by switching language inputs.

Special characters like « », are typically handled through your Operating System’s input language/keyboard layout. Are you using a French keyboard layout (AZERTY) or switching to a French input language, which will let you type these characters using simple Shift/Shift+Alt combinations?

Our editor also includes a “Special Characters” button that also includes the double chevron characters to cover situations where you might need to use those characters but they aren’t available through your current input method:

However, we hear you on custom keyboard shortcuts for actions like “confirm segment and go to next unconfirmed.” That’s a valuable workflow optimization, and we have an open feature request to implement this feature, where I can add your feedback.

Please let me know if this helps. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to assist you.

Hi Antonis, thank you very much for your reply. So far I didn’t manage to use my own keyboard shortcut in the editor (which is indeed an azerty), but now I just found out about the option in the editor’s preference that I needed to toggle back for it to work, so all good

Good to know about the other set shortcuts!

Kind regards

Hey @Alizee_M ,

I’m glad to hear you were able to make it work.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, and I will be happy to help.
