Hi everyone! ![]()
We’ve updated how the Translation Quality Index (TQI) scores your AI translations, so a score above your threshold is a stronger signal that a translation is ready to go and reviewers spend their time where editing is actually needed.
The update is already live, so there’s nothing you need to do. Your projects are already benefiting from it.
What’s changed
TQI is still made up of three components: Translation Complexity, Structural Integrity and Semantic Quality. We’ve rebuilt the first one.
The old Translation Consistency component compared translations from several AI models and checked how similar they were. That’s still the strongest signal, but the new Translation Complexity component also looks at how hard each string is to translate, for example, its sentence structure, ambiguity, and how much terminology it contains. It learns from what reviewers actually do: which AI translations they accept as they are and which they edit.
Structural Integrity and Semantic Quality work the same way as before. Our team continuously monitors the new TQI to ensure it performs reliably.
What it means for you
- Scores you can trust more. Translations above your threshold are more often production-ready and need no edits, saving post-editors time and focus.
- Nothing to set up. Your TQI thresholds, auto-review, and Translation Memory settings stay as they are, and keep the same meaning. Scores calculated before 15 September 2026 were not recalculated, so they still reflect the old Translation Consistency component.
- Same breakdown. Click a TQI score in the Editor (or press Ctrl+T), and you’ll still see all three components. The first is now labeled Translation Complexity.
- Your content stays private. The new component works only with non-sensitive information about each string, never your translation content itself.
Want to see how it’s working for you?
Open a TQI score in the Editor (or press Ctrl+cmd/Alt+T) to see the breakdown, then compare the translations above your threshold with what your reviewers actually did. How many went through without edits?
