How do translators decide on the most appropriate type of translation when dealing with culturally sensitive expressions?
For example, the Arabic expression “إيده خفيفة” loses its intended meaning if translated literally as “His hand is light.” In such cases, do you prefer a literal translation or an interpretive/communicative translation to convey the intended meaning? Why?
