Filter translations by comparison to source text and other translations

In the string editor, I would like a filter to show all strings where the translation text in a particular language:

  • Matches the source text.
  • Matches the translation text in another language of my choosing.

And of course I would like to do the reverse as well: i.e. see all the strings where they don’t match.

This is useful for related languages, like English (US) and English (GB), as it would allow me to see all the strings that are the same or different between these languages.

This would help to ensure translations are consistent wherever possible, and only differ where intended:

English (US) English (GB)
color colour
program programme
specialize specialise

Etc.

It’s also useful for other related languages, like Portuguese and Portugese (Brazil).

If one of these languages is used as the source language then I would be comparing translation and source. If a third langauge (e.g. Spanish) is used as the source language, then I would be comparing the translations in two languages.

The “translation equals source” filter has been requested before but for a different reason: to identify strings that were copied into the translation by mistake.

I can use the developer API to do the filtering, but it would be really helpful if it were possible in the editor. Thanks!
