Language does not appear as an option to be requested in a Public project

I want to collaborate on translating a public project, and I tried to request a language, but it does not appear in the drop-down menu. Any idea why?

There might be 2 reasons for it:
Case #1:
In case the same language has been requested by another user and the request is still pending for approval, then you cannot submit the same request.
Case #2:
You can check our explore page here in order to ensure that the language you are interested in is supported by Transifex. If you cannot find this language there, then you can contact us at support@transifex.com and ask us to add this to our list.
